How to Find Campus Jobs in Handshake

Federal Work-Study (FWS) jobs are available in Handshake for students who have been awarded and accepted Federal Work-Study as part of their financial aid package.

Search for FWS Jobs

  1. Log in to your WVU Handshake account using your WVU login credentials through Single Sign-On.
  2. Select Jobs from the navigation menu in the top left corner.
  3. Select Filters in the top right corner to narrow your search.
  4. Under the Work Study filter, check Work Study, then select Apply to view available FWS positions.

How can you tell if a job is Federal Work-Study?

Federal Work-Study positions will include “Federal Work-Study” in the job title.

Don’t See Any Federal Work-Study Jobs?

If you cannot view FWS positions, first confirm that you have been awarded and accepted Federal Work-Study for the academic year.

Only students who are identified as Federal Work-Study eligible in Handshake can access FWS job postings.

If you have confirmed your FWS eligibility but still cannot view FWS positions, contact the WVU Career Center for assistance.

How to Find ALL On-Campus Student Employment Jobs in Handshake

On-campus student jobs, including Federal Work-Study (FWS) positions, are posted in Handshake. Follow the instructions below to search for all on-campus student employment opportunities.

  1. Log in to your WVU Handshake account using your WVU login credentials through Single Sign-On.
  2. Select Jobs from the navigation menu in the top left corner.
  3. Select Filters in the top right corner to narrow your search.
  4. Under Job Type, select On Campus Student Employment, then select Apply to view all available on-campus student jobs.

How to Filter by Location (Beckley, Keyser, or Morgantown)

  1. Continue using the On Campus Student Employment filter and/or Work Study filter.
  2. In the Keywords search box, enter the campus location you want to search:
    • Beckley
    • Keyser
    • Morgantown
  3. Review the available positions for that campus.

Before You Apply

Make sure your Handshake profile is complete and your resume is up to date. You will also need to upload your Work Availability, which helps supervisors determine whether your schedule meets the needs of their position. For your convenience, we’ve provided Work Availability Template you can use.

Receiving Federal Work-Study does not guarantee a job. Students must search, apply, and be selected for a Federal Work-Study position. We encourage you to apply early and consider multiple positions that fit your interests, skills, and availability.
